Apple Oat Slice
A delicious and healthier slice you can have for breakfast or a snack. It can also be dessert, served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream. Best part? No electric appliances required.
Ingredients
1 pink lady apple
1 granny smith apple
1 cup rolled oats
1 ½ cups oat flour (or blended oats)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
⅓ cup maple syrup
¼ cup olive oil
1 cup milk of choice (personal preference is oat milk)
¼ cup flaked almonds
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Wash, peel and dice your apples into small 1cm cubes.
Combine dry ingredients - rolled oats, oat flour, cinnamon and baking powder in a bowl. Stir until ingredients are evenly distributed.
Add wet ingredients - maple syrup, oil and milk. Mix well until it forms a pancake-like batter.
Add diced apples and fold through the mixture.
Pour mixture into a lined baking dish (7" x 11" or similar).
Sprinkle flaked almonds and extra cinnamon evenly across the top.
Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
